Jeremiah is a composer and multi-instrumentalist from Maple Grove, Minnesota. He started playing cello at the age of 11, and that same year he got his first experience composing when he wrote a transition cue for his school's radio play. Jeremiah is currently a student at Columbia College Chicago, where he is pursuing a BMus in music composition. In the last few years Jeremiah has had the opportunity to compose in a wide variety of settings, ranging from short films and video games to live performances of his compositions in his school's New Music Ensemble. He himself is a member of this ensemble, playing both cello and erhu. In the spring of 2024, Jeremiah co-composed the music for Columbia's main stage production of Hamlet.
Jeremiah's music is highly influenced by nature; specifically humankind's perception of nature, and how that perception changes over time and through different cultures. In high school he would occasionally take his cello on his bike to the nearby park and improvise off the sights and sounds of the surrounding area. He combines the styles of composers like Debussy, Shostakovich, and similar composers from his classical upbringing with strong imagery and sound effects that conjure authentic and relatable experiences.
Jeremiah is currently collaborating with multiple students from Columbia College Chicago on various independent projects. Interested in his work? Feel free to reach out via the contact page.
